Ege University, Faculty of Fashion and Design is organizing the 2nd International Online Mixed Exhibition on Cultural Design and Sustainability to commemorate the university’s 70th anniversary. This year’s theme, “Tactile Connection”, delves into the sensory depth of the creative process. The theme represents an approach where perception surpasses purely visual engagement, evolving into a multi-dimensional network of physical, emotional, and conceptual interactions. “Tactile Connection” aims to redefine the relationship between the viewer or user and the artwork by emphasizing the material and surface qualities of the pieces. This relationship evokes tactile sensations while also activating emotional and cultural layers that are deeply embedded in memory.
In art and design, tactility takes on a vital role, transforming the sensory and formal properties of materials into tools for narrative expression. The softness of fabric, the sharp contours of a sculpture, or the textured surface of a painting serve to embody an aesthetic and profound form of expression. In the field of craft, tactility offers a powerful form of communication that serves as a bridge between the past and the present.. In this context, tactile experience extends beyond physical touch, embodying a holistic perception that stimulates the individual’s visual, cognitive, and emotional sensibilities.
The theme “Tactile Connection” highlights material qualities such as texture, density, and fluidity while fostering strong emotional bonds between the audience and the artwork. The exhibition invites participants to explore tactile perception and experience through diverse artistic and design practices. The exhibition is open to artists and designers who are studying or have completed their education in the fields of art and design. In the exhibition, which includes all disciplines of art and design, artists and designers who are currently studying or have completed their education in these fields are expected to approach the physical and aesthetic properties of materials with a creative perspective.
